Teaching BLM in the Classroom Publication Redesign

The Ask:

Transform an existing article (online or physical) into a publication redesign focused on adding expression to the article in order to attract readers.

The Deliverables:

At least two spreads mocked into a physical mount, illustrating and evoking a new sense of the article.

The Process:

The approach utilizes a textural and gritty aspect in order to relate to the objectification and mistreatment of black people that have been forced to deal with. This rugged treatment is throughout the entire article and treated as commentary for the reader within some spots.

My design approach mimics the typographical elements found within protest signage. I chose this gritty aspect in order to relate to the anger and outrage expressed within these protests. My color choice of primarily red correlates with the blood that has been shed during these outrageous events/ police murders.
